The rules below are intended to make races fair by regulating the cars so that very similarly built cars are racing. Invariably, you can find loopholes but I encourage you to stay with the intention which is to depend on your racing skill, which will improve when you rely on that rather than parts. While winning is the goal of every race, watching a heavy weight beat a feather weight isn't appealing to anyone. Try to respect the intention of each class and if you car looks like it belongs in a different class....it probably does.

RULES OF THE ROADUpstate Speedway seeks to coordinate with surrounding tracks to find some uniformity in rules for the benefit of racers as well as tracks. It is our conviction that separate rules for every track makes this hobby sport to expensive and difficult for those that love to race. Therefore the cars you race there you often race here and the cars you race here, we hope you will be able to race there. This gives you greater opportunity to take advantage of other great Slot Car facilities and never get bored in pursuing your best race.
GLUE: The track will be sprayed with a light glue mixture in the turns only from time to time and racers may ask to have the turns checked for glue before a heat. However, no glue boards will be used by racers to apply glue directly to the tires or the track. The result of such a practice is excessive glue in the lanes creating a change in the racing performance of other cars after lane changes. Glue can also spread across lanes as a glued tire enters turns and crosses or fishtails into adjacent lanes. Glue also provides an advantage to the racer using glue that trumps another racer relying on driving skill. Likewise, braid juice will be applied directly to the braids on the car and not directly to the braid on the track. Braid juice may be used between heats. (The following "During Race" and "Track Call" rules were adopted from The Viper Pit Slot Car Raceway in Thomasville, GA) Track calls are permitted only for: 1. Braid up 2. Track equipment failure 3. Debris on track 4. Un-marshalable car, i.e., a car de-slots and stops in an area not readily accessible to a turn marshal. [Note: a car landing on the floor does not necessarily constitute a track call.] 5. Rider in lane During racing: 1. Drivers must turn marshal during their sit-outs or otherwise when called upon by the race director. Drivers who either DNF or DQ are expected to turn marshal the remainder of their race. 2. During lane change cars must remain at the track, except when a car is already in the pits. At the track, only guide or body straightening, braid check or replacement, body pin/clip check permitted 3. During track call only guide or body straightening permitted 4. Car repair during the race allowed but must have begun when track power is on. * 5. No car substitution permitted. The result is black flag and immediate disqualification. * * Rule may be waived, depending on class. No chassis contact to the race track. THE NINE RULES FOR CORNER MARSHALS (Thanks to Atlanta Slot Car Raceway for the Marshal Rules) Nine Rules for Slot Car Corner Marshals 1. Marshals are allowed to fluff or flatten braid on a car if requested by the driver only if the car was the one involved with track call. 2. Marshals are allowed to pop a body if it has been damaged by a hit to a wall or by another car during a track call. 3. During the race or track call the only car that a marshal needs to touch is the car that is out of the slot. No adjustments should be made to any other nearby cars. 4. Marshals are the only ones that can call track for a car out of reach but visible by the marshal. Drivers can call for a rider or if car is not visible by a nearby marshal. 5. Drivers cannot request a corner marshal to do repairs, reset or replace body pins or clips during a track call or race. All repairs are made under green flag racing by the driver or team member. 6. If a car has become disabled the marshal will remove the car from the track and the driver is responsible for retrieving his/her own car. 7. If marshaling, be respectful and either mute or turn off electronic devices while the race is running. 8. While marshaling please limit conversations with other marshals or drivers while the race is under way. 9. Remember, when you marshal, marshal like you would like to be marshaled if it was you at the drivers stand. IN HOUSE UPSTATE FLEXI SERIES RACES: NASCAR/LMP/Dirt Late Model/GTP/Group F Flexi This flexi class is designed to keep racing competitive, affordable, and stock. Axle may be soldered to chassis front uprights. Axle must be one piece, solid and steel. Wheel retainers may be soldered. CLEARANCE Rear Clearance will be .047" minimum including the spur gear. Clearance will be measured under the rear of the car, directly under the rear axle and between the rear wheels, with the car at rest on a flat tech block with the guide in the tech block slot. Clearance will be checked at the beginning of the race, with no check at the end. If a car is suspected to be dragging on the track during racing, the race director, at his discretion may check clearance. Any car found to be dragging the track will be repaired during green flag racing conditions. A mid race clearance check may be carried out by the tech director/race controller at the beginning of any heat of any race. Any car found with rear clearance less than .039” inches at the beginning of any heat will have to change tires and have the clearance rechecked under green flag racing conditions.
